What to Expect From an EQ-i 2.0 Assessment

If you’re considering an EQ-i 2.0 or EQ 360 Assessment, you probably have some questions about how it looks, what you need to do to prepare, what you’ll get out of it, and how the debrief works. This short blog should answer all of those questions (and maybe more!) but if there are still thinks you’d like to know, then let’s chat!

What is the EQ-i 2.0 and why should I trust it?

The EQ-i 2.0, developed by Multi-Health Systems, is one of the world’s leading tools for measuring and assessing emotional intelligence. It’s backed up by decades of research and testing within the marketplace and academic circles.

It gives a picture of emotional intelligence broken into five key composites - Self-Perception, Self-Expression, Interpersonal, Decision Making, and Stress Management. Within these composites, there are 15 distinct factors, allowing a detailed analysis of each individual's emotional strengths and potential areas for improvement. This snapshot gives a trusted picture of an individuals emotional intelligence.

How do I take the assessment?

After purchasing the assessment through EQ Leadership, you will receive access to the secure online assessment. There are 133 statements related to emotional intelligence skills, which you’ll respond to. Overall, the assessment takes approximately twenty minutes to complete.

Once you’ve completed and submitted your answers, EQ Leadership will generate your report. This report contains an overall picture of your EQ and detail on your answers, including opportunities to grow, balance, and explore each area. We’ll then meet to debrief and walk through your report together.

Why do we have a debrief conversation?

The EQ-i 2.0 and the EQ 360 reports are both Level B Psychological Tests. That means they can only be administered by trained professionals and require explanation and assistance as part of their use. A conversation about your emotional intelligence can be emotional (unsurprisingly!). Many people can be caught off guard by their results or feel overwhelmed by that amount of self discovery. Working together with a trained coach is extremely important.

What comes next?

After your debrief, these results are yours! What comes next is up to you. You may want to explore coaching with one of our team to continue to develop areas of your EQ. You may want to take some time for reflection. Whatever you decide, EQL wants to help you thrive in your emotional intelligence
